All In

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.”

Matthew 13:44-46 (NIV)

These sayings of Jesus are quite obviously about finding the kingdom of heaven (i.e., salvation in Jesus), but I want to focus on the actual characters and plot.

In the first case, you have a man seemingly wandering through a field that does not belong to him. Perhaps he was hunting, or maybe seeking a shortcut. In any case, he came across something extremely valuable: a treasure hidden in the field. Note it was a treasure - something manmade like jewels or money - and it was hidden, suggesting someone else put it there for safekeeping. Also notice the man didn't steal the treasure. He re-hid it, then bought the field. If the owner of the field knew of the treasure, he surely would not have sold it. But the finder, knowing the value of that treasure, sold all he had and made the field owner an offer he wouldn't refuse.

In the second story, the finder is a merchant on the search for valuable things, unlike the previous guy who apparently just stumbled upon a treasure. The merchant was looking for something in particular - pearls - and when he found the big one of "great value", he sold everything he had to buy it.

These two men went all in. They found something of greater worth than everything else they owned, and they sold everything else to obtain that one great treasure. They were not distracted by things of lesser value. They felt no need to diversify.

These stories are about salvation. There is absolutely nothing on Earth more valuable than your eternal soul, or the salvation of your soul. Jesus is the solution (salvation) to a problem (sin). If you think you need to diversify - add a little Buddha, just in case - then you don't really understand the problem or the solution.

Even though these stories are about finding salvation, they also demonstrate a principle regarding valuable things. When you have the opportunity to trade up, be willing to sell everything of lesser value to obtain the thing of greater value.

Bitcoin is money, and money is a winner-take-all game. When two or more monies compete, the best money always wins (in a free market). The dollar has historically been the best money out there, which is why people in other parts of the world really want dollars. Rich people in the US buy stocks, real-estate, and Rolex watches to preserve their wealth from debasement because the dollar, despite being the best, is actually a lousy form of money, and the rich know it. Once the rich in this world find Bitcoin, however, all of the monetary premium of stocks and watches will flow into Bitcoin because Bitcoin is a better store of wealth (and with far less hassle). There is no need to diversify when you use sound money. Nor is there a need to waste untold hours being a part-time financial guru. Sell your inferior assets - your stocks, bonds, and real-estate - and just buy Bitcoin, and relax. Not only will you save your wealth, you'll save your time.
